Job summary

Esh Group's Leeds-based Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead the commercial management of multiple construction schemes within Esh Living’s new build housing division, handling cost control, contract administration and financial reporting to ensure timely delivery.

The role requires a strong track record in complex portfolios, subsurface procurement, valuations and tendering, with the ability to guide project teams and apprentices through robust commercial processes.

Qualifications

• HND Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years as a Quantity Surveyor with good construction process knowledge.
• Experience with JCT/NEC or sector-specific contracts.
• Understanding of sub-contract and main contract terms.
• Proficient in MS Office; valid UK driving licence and CSCS card.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial support to site and project managers.
• Monitor and update project costs via monthly forecasts vs actuals.
• Procurement and management of subcontractors from inception to completion.
• Valuation, certification and payments to Sub Contractors.
• Guide operational team on cost estimation and contract requirements.
• Prepare external valuations aligned with contract requirements.
• Forecast and manage external valuations through final account with clients.
• Present valuation reports and cost estimation to clients and managers.
• Tender and negotiate contracts; prepare lump-sum bids and documents.
• Prepare contract documents and ensure adherence to processes.
• Mentor and develop apprentice/trainee/assistant quantity surveyors.
