Location: Canary Wharf, London

WFH policy: Employees are required to attend the office 2 days/week

Flexible working: Variety of flexible work patterns subject to line manager discretion, e.g., compressed 9-day fortnight.

Reports to: Technical and Governance Lead

Role Summary:

As the Lead QA Engineer, you will establish and lead the testing framework and processes to ensure system resilience and quality.

You will promote test capabilities and decisions within our delivery environment, especially during our transition to cloud-based infrastructure and bespoke software development for schemes and insights.

You will also ensure the safe and secure delivery of new software applications for upcoming schemes, supporting our goal to become a center of expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Testing Framework and Processes: Define and implement standardized testing processes, including test strategy, planning, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and coverage.
  2. Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify risks early, communicate to stakeholders, and propose mitigation plans to ensure high-quality outputs.
  3. Collaboration and Influence: Work with development, operations, and business teams to embed testing roles and influence continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines.
  4. Best Practices and Tools: Introduce and drive adoption of best testing practices and tools, aiming for zero manual testing through automation.
  5. Acceptance Test Criteria: Contribute to estimation, planning, and creation of acceptance criteria at a domain level.
  6. Automation Framework Design: Collaborate on architecture, model, and tech stack for automation frameworks.
  7. Shift Left Implementation: Work with governance to implement early testing approaches.
  8. Non-Functional Testing: Demonstrate expertise in performance, accessibility, and security testing.
  9. Training and Support: Provide training and support to IT team members in testing areas.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience building a software testing function, including frameworks, tools, and centers of excellence.
  • Experience establishing automation and continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in both functional and non-functional testing.
  • Ability to design, execute, and communicate testing results effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing large-scale UAT, SIT, and regression testing activities.
  • Familiarity with cloud testing environments and methodologies.
  • Experience with performance and security testing tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of accessibility testing standards.
  • Knowledge of Python.
