Job summary

Elgin is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Lead to strengthen its growing team. The role balances line management of approximately five Project Engineers with hands-on project engineering across a portfolio of utility-scale solar PV and storage projects.

You will set technical standards, mentor staff, and ensure engineering delivers value, cost efficiency, and timely execution while collaborating with development, commercial, PMO, grid, legal, and construction teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS projects.
• Experience leading/mentoring a team of engineers.
• Strong PV, grid connections, energy yield, and MV/HV knowledge.
• UK/Irish design codes knowledge and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a PE team of ~5 engineers, including performance reviews.
• Provide hands-on project engineering across the full lifecycle.
• Set technical standards and mentor junior engineers.
• Coordinate with development, commercial, grid, and construction teams.
• Prepare tender documentation and EPC/contract input.
• Ensure alignment with project objectives and value.
