Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group is recruiting a Lead Electrical Project Engineer to oversee HV transmission and substations projects across the UK. You will own technical delivery from design through commissioning and energisation, working on schemes ranging from 11kV to 400kV.

The role demands strong leadership, substantial substation experience in DNO/TSO/ICP contexts, AP qualifications, and willingness to travel across the UK. A clear path to Engineering Management awaits the successful candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering UK transmission or distribution projects.
• Substation experience in DNO/TSO/ICP environments preferred.
• Authorised Person (AP) experience is essential.

Responsibilities

Lead Electrical Project Engineer | HV Transmission & Substations | London

Our Client is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Project Engineer to help deliver some of the UK's most critical power infrastructure projects. Working across transmission, renewable energy, data centre and new connection schemes, you'll take technical ownership of projects from design through to commissioning and energisation.

The Role

• Lead electrical delivery on HV projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV
• Oversee construction activities within live substation environments
• Manage subcontractors, site teams and technical stakeholders
• Provide expert guidance on HV plant, switchgear, cable systems and protection & control
• Support commissioning activities, FAT/SAT testing and project handover
• Assist with tenders, construction methodologies and work-winning activities
• Act as a key client-facing technical representative

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience delivering UK transmission or distribution projects
• Extensive substation experience within DNO, TSO or ICP environments
• Authorised Person experience (33kV-132kV+)
• Strong understanding of Distribution Safety Rules, G81 and NERS requirements
• HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
• Senior Authorised Person
• Experience on National Grid transmission projects
• Previous leadership or mentoring responsibility
