Job summary

Gi Group in Derby is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee the Portion Department, drive performance, and maintain high standards of quality, food safety and efficiency. You will lead daily operations and coordinate resources.

The role requires hands-on leadership, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to continuous improvement, yield, and KPI delivery, with a strong focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience within a food production or manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
• Calm, organised, and able to work effectively under pressure.
• Self-motivated with the ability to motivate and develop others.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Production Manager in delivering a high-quality production service.
• Drive performance with a strong focus on yield, giveaway reduction, and productivity.
• Lead, motivate, and develop production teams to achieve departmental KPIs.
• Conduct training, performance reviews, and support disciplinary processes where required.
• Monitor team morale and take proactive steps to address issues and improve engagement.
• Organise labour and resources to meet production, quality, and efficiency targets.
• Monitor hourly production performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Ensure all processes are followed and audited to maintain operational standards.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, Food Safety, and Hygiene standards at all times.
