Job description

Lead Product Designer - Cortex
Manchester (Hybrid, up to 4 days WFH)
Competitive salary, dependent on experience

Street Group is one of the fastest-growing PropTech companies in the UK. We want to transform the experience of buying, selling, renting and letting property, elevating UK estate agencies through world-class technology.

Cortex is an exciting new product that brings agentic AI into Street and Spectre, taking on the busywork so agents can focus on winning instructions and building relationships. It’s early, moving fast, and will ultimately touch every part of the product suite. We’re looking for a Lead Product Designer to shape what agentic UX looks like across all of it.

We want someone who is genuinely excited by agentic AI, past needing to be told what’s worth working on, and ready to help define a product category that doesn’t have a playbook yet - working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

If you look at most UX job ads, you see a laundry list of requirements. We prefer to tell you how we actually operate so you can decide if this is the right environment for you.

  • At Street Group, design is a strategic seat. You’ll drive direction alongside product and engineering, not respond to them.

  • Our users rely on us to run their businesses, so they love talking to us. You can spin up a call and validate a prototype instantly. We don’t guess; we ask.

  • We move at pace, including on strategic work. Strategy isn’t a separate, slower track here - we test it by shipping.

Here’s what you can expect to be working on
  • Shape the UX of agentic AI across Street and Spectre - deciding which agency workflows agents should own, then designing how that actually feels and builds trust for the user.

  • Design across the whole suite, not one domain - valuation, prospecting, marketing, enquiry handling, sales progression, property management. You’ll hold a huge amount of context.

  • Define the patterns for a new category. There’s no established playbook for agentic UX in property - you’ll set it.

  • Set the craft bar through your own output. The work you ship is the reference point for what good looks like.

  • Prototype, test and ship at pace - getting working prototypes in front of real agents and iterating fast.

You should apply if:
  • You’ve built or shaped agentic AI, not just used AI tools - multi-step, tool-using agents you’ve designed, prototyped or shipped. You understand how they work and where they break.

  • You’ve got a well-formed point of view on agentic UX - how you design for systems that don’t always behave the same way, how you build in trust, transparency and control, and when to keep a human in the loop.

  • You stay current. This field moves monthly and you keep on top of it.

  • You’re energised by an undefined problem space and bring the case for what’s worth doing, rather than waiting for a brief.

  • You’re commercially fluent - you make design trade‑offs informed by how the product performs, not just user preference. You define success before you ship and read the result after.

You probably shouldn’t apply if:
  • Your AI experience is limited to speeding up your own workflow. This role is about designing AI into the product, and that gap will show quickly.

  • You’re looking for the next pay band up from Senior with broadly similar expectations. This is not a "Senior+" role - it expects materially more scope, autonomy and judgment.

  • You need a well‑defined problem before you can start. Cortex is still taking shape, and that won’t change soon.

  • You expect to be handed a roadmap. Here, you help write it.

A bit about you
  • AI & agentic depth: Non‑negotiable, and the first thing we’ll screen for. Current, hands‑on knowledge of agentic AI, with real examples of what you’ve built or shaped.

  • Craft: Lead-level UX and product design. Your work is exemplary and you can articulate it clearly enough to teach.

  • Breadth: Comfortable operating across the whole product suite and holding a lot of context at once, not going deep on a single domain.

  • Ambiguity: You do your best work when the problem isn’t yet defined.

  • Cross‑functional: A peer at the table with product and engineering, partnering closely with a good PM without treading on each other’s toes.

  • Technical fluency: Being hands‑on enough to prototype with code is a real advantage here, given how close design sits to how these systems work. It’s a plus, not a hard requirement.

  • Experience: Typically this comes with around 8+ years in product/UX design at senior IC level - but we care more about evidence you can operate at Lead altitude than the exact number, especially given how new agentic AI is. SaaS or complex product experience is helpful; property experience isn’t required.

Research has shown that women tend to rule themselves out of applying for jobs unless they meet 100% of the requirements. If you fall into that category and are about to rule yourself out based on the above criteria, please consider applying anyway. We’d love to see your application.
