Job summary

Motorway, the UK’s largest online car-selling platform, is hiring a Lead Product Designer for a fast-growing scale‑up phase. You’ll own complex design challenges from discovery through delivery, mentor peers, and shape the design culture across a cross‑functional team.

You will guide product strategy, collaborate with engineers and data analysts, and push for accessible, user‑centred experiences that scale with our business and users in the UK market.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership as a Senior or Lead Product Designer.
• Experience shipping impactful digital products across web and mobile.
• Experience shipping code or building your own tools/prototypes.
• Experience navigating both B2C and B2B product landscapes.
• AI-forward mindset: using AI to accelerate work while preserving human judgment.
• Strong user-centered design, accessibility standards, and research synthesis.

Responsibilities

• Own complex product challenges from discovery to deployment.
• Lead cross-functional conversations with product, engineering and data.
• Mentor junior and senior designers to raise craft and impact.
• Shape design culture through workshops and rituals across the team.
• Collaborate with engineering, build prototypes and tools beyond visuals.
• Champion user research, usability testing and data-informed decisions.
