Job summary

Citisense is seeking a Principal Highways Engineer to join the London office. You will lead the technical planning, design and delivery of complex highways and public realm schemes, taking senior leadership and providing technical assurance across multidisciplinary teams.

You will manage client relationships, develop scopes and fee proposals, support bids, and help grow the Engineering & Kerbside portfolio while mentoring engineers and technicians.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in civil engineering, highways, transport engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive experience leading design and delivery of UK highway, transport or public realm schemes.
• Strong knowledge of UK standards, CDM 2015 and design risk management.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and providing technical assurance.
• Strong project and commercial management: scope, programme, budget, resources, risk, change.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical planning, design and delivery of complex highways, active travel, junction, street, parking and public realm schemes from inception through construction support.
• Act as technical and design lead on multidisciplinary commissions and coordinate inputs.
• Provide technical assurance and senior review of drawings, specifications, calculations and reports.
• Lead or contribute to transport strategies, business cases and funding submissions.
• Manage project scope, programme, budget, resources and commercial performance.
• Maintain strong governance and quality assurance throughout the lifecycle.
• Build and maintain long-term client relationships and present recommendations to senior officers.
• Lead client meetings, design reviews and workshops; communicate complex issues clearly to stakeholders.
