Job summary

Swansea City AFC is seeking a Lead Pre-Academy Coach to oversee recruitment and development of high-potential players in its Pre-Academy as they progress to Foundation Phase. You will design and run the Pre-Academy coaching programme and lead the U8 development group.

Reporting to the Head of Academy Coaching, you will manage the Pre-Academy staff, ensure alignment with the Swansea City Academy curriculum, and drive CPD for coaches and players.

Qualifications

• UEFA B Licence and FA Introduction to Talent Identification.
• At least three years’ coaching experience, including recruitment and working with parents.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, written and IT skills.
• Desirable: FA Advanced Youth Award, FA National Talent Identification & Scouting in Football, and a degree in sports coaching, education or a related subject

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of the Pre-Academy coaching programme.
• Work with the Head of Academy Recruitment to identify the best talent to progress into the U9s.
• Ensure sessions follow the Swansea City Academy curriculum, working with the Lead Foundation Phase Coach.
• Develop Pre-Academy coaches through in-house training and CPD.
• Lead the review and feedback programme for Pre-Academy players.
• Build strong relationships with local grassroots clubs and manage player and parent expectations.
