Job summary

Trafford Council is seeking a Practice Manager in Children's Services to lead a team of social workers and practitioners, delivering high-quality services for children, young people and families.

The role provides professional supervision, advances safeguarding, and drives strengths-based, relational practice while shaping service development and performance. Hybrid working and a permanent contract are offered.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in children’s social care.
  • Experience supervising, supporting and developing practitioners.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding practice.
  • Evidence of leading high-quality social work practice and supporting positive outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, oversight and professional supervision to practitioners.
  • Promote high-quality assessment, planning and decision-making.
  • Drive strengths-based, relational and restorative practice.
  • Support staff development, performance and wellbeing.
  • Ensure effective risk management and safeguarding practice.
  • Maintain oversight of caseloads, service performance and practice quality.
  • Contribute to service development, quality assurance and improvement activity.
  • Build effective relationships with partners and stakeholders across the children's system.
  • Create a culture of learning, reflection, accountability and continuous improvement.
