Job summary

Gerrell & Hard Ltd. in Surrey seeks a Lead Engine Design Engineer to shape the next generation of high-performance powertrain technology.

You will lead an engineering group through full technical product delivery, working with Exec-level stakeholders, cross-functional teams and suppliers, with hybrid working and 3 days onsite. The role covers detailed ICE design leadership, vehicle integration, DFMA reviews against BS 8888 and ISO GPS standards, and mentoring engineers while maintaining autonomy

Qualifications

• Strong track record in high-performance automotive OEM or motorsport engine design.
• Experience with APQP-style frameworks (FMEA, PPAP).
• Solid CAE knowledge across combustion systems and driveline components.
• CATIA V5 2D/3D experience and tolerancing standards BS 8888/ISO GPS.
• Comfortable with standard MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical ownership of high-performance ICE components and subsystems.
• Define engine system requirements with stakeholders across functions.
• Review and sign off technical specifications (drawings, DFMA).
• Direct internal/external design teams to meet programme timing.
• Mentor engineers and review work to drive better outcomes.
• Support vehicle programme attribute owners on development and reporting.
