Job summary

Octagon Group is seeking a Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer in Middlesbrough to lead the technical delivery of power electronics projects. You will head a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, compliant solutions are delivered on time and within budget.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive power electronics knowledge, and proven ability to drive concepts through to completion while engaging with customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior power electronics design role.
• Strong background in power electronics and system design.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ability to manage technical delivery from concept to completion.
• Strong communication with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical execution of power electronics design projects.
• Act as the main technical interface with customers.
• Define and model system designs to meet customer requirements.
• Produce functional specifications and guide the engineering team.
• Manage technical work packages and support project delivery.
• Review and approve technical documentation and design outputs.
• Chair design reviews, ensuring safety, cost and performance targets.
