Job summary

BBC in Cardiff is hiring a Lead Data Engineer to head a six-person team supporting pension systems used by the BBC Pension Scheme, LifePlan and NEST. You will coach, manage performance, and drive improvements across data management, databases, and software development.

Hands-on SQL/PL/SQL, experience with web tech, APIs, GitHub and Jira, plus strong stakeholder communication and project delivery, are essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on SQL and PL/SQL expertise is essential.
• Working knowledge of web technologies, automation, APIs is beneficial.
• Experience with Jira and GitHub to support and develop the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of six, driving performance and wellbeing.
• Own and enhance the pension benefit calculation suite and data workflows.
• Ensure high data quality and reliable, secure pension administration systems.
