Your role and responsibilities

As an Oracle Database Administrator in IBM's public sector division, you'll play a crucial role in supporting mission-critical systems that serve the public good.
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Lead Oracle Database Administrator to join our team focused on serving the public sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, security, performance tuning, and backup and recovery of Oracle databases.
Required technical and professional expertise
Oracle Database Administration: Proficiently manage Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patches.
Database Performance Tuning: Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance, ensuring optimal speed, reliability, and stability.
Security Management: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data, adhering to public sector compliance standards.
Backup and Recovery: Plan, execute, and test regular backups and recovery procedures to safeguard against data loss.
Capacity Planning and Growth: Forecast database growth and recommend hardware and software requirements.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex database issues quickly and efficiently.
Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system engineers, and other database administrators to ensure smooth operation of applications and systems.

Preferred technical and professional experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, preferably within the public sector.
Oracle Database Administrator Certification (OCP or higher) is required.
Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of public sector operations, regulations, and compliance requirements is a plus.

Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud Administrator Associate.
Oracle Exadata Database Machine Implementation Essentials.
Oracle Database 19c Database Administration.
Oracle Database 19c Performance Tuning.
Oracle Database 19c Security.
Oracle Linux System Administration.
