Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bariatric Service at ICHT. We are expanding the Clinical Nurse Specialist team to meet the demands of a growing service and are recruiting a Band 6 CNS. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals aspiring to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist and to develop essential skills.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Bariatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will support patients living with obesity throughout their surgical weight management journey. Working within a specialist multidisciplinary team, you will provide holistic, patient-centred care from assessment to post-operative follow-up. Your responsibilities include leading nurse-led clinics, coordinating care as a keyworker, and offering tailored education, psychological support, and lifestyle advice to empower patients and improve outcomes.

You will utilize advanced communication and clinical reasoning skills to deliver individualized plans based on national guidance and local pathways. As a developing specialist, you will contribute to service improvement, audits, education, and research. Collaboration across inpatient and outpatient settings is essential to support care coordination, clinical decision-making, and timely interventions.
