Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is looking for a design leader to join its Energy Networks team in Manchester. You will oversee technical standards, supervise engineering teams, and ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards. You will lead the design and delivery of new customer connections and network reinforcements while encouraging diverse applications.

The ideal candidate will have a formal engineering degree and experience in designing Overhead Lines using specific OHL Design Packages. This position plays a key role in supporting green investments and innovative technologies.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in design related to Overhead Lines.
• Experience using OHL Design Packages such as PLS-CADD, Tower & Pole, or similar.
• Aware of TNO and DNO requirements.
• Knowledge and understanding of CDM and Design Risk Assessments.

Responsibilities

• Communicate the goals of the company to engineers and professionals.
• Be accountable for Technical Standards, approving documentation.
• Lead the team to develop efficient strategies and procedures.
• Supervise design phases from concept to completion.
• Create hours estimates for engineering activities.
• Approve designs and estimates for submission.
• Delegate tasks to engineering teams.
• Perform quality control checks on systems and products.
