Job summary

Spirit Primary Care Limited is seeking an experienced Lead Nurse to provide clinical leadership across our practices and act as a key clinical resource for the nursing teams.

You will support nurses, collaborate with GPs and MDTs, and drive training, governance and quality improvement across SPC sites, while maintaining your own patient-facing clinics and safely using prescribing qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Experienced practice nurse with leadership experience.
  • Familiar with NICE/NHS England guidance and ICB/PCN policies.
  • Independent prescribing qualification and safe use within formulary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior clinical support and advice to practice nurses, including complex cases.
  • Act as escalation point and collaborate with GPs, Clinical Directors and MDT.
  • Identify training, competency and development needs across the nursing workforce.
  • Develop and deliver clinical training, education sessions and case-based learning.
  • Support newly appointed, developing and experienced nurses to broaden skills and confidence.
  • Keep up to date with NICE, NHS England and local guidance and translate into practical information for teams.
  • Support clinical governance, audits, significant events, complaints and quality improvement activity.
  • Help develop clinical pathways, protocols, policies and SOPs.
  • Identify opportunities to standardise nursing practice across practices.
  • Support development of new clinical services and future nursing roles within SPC.
  • Maintain own clinical practice through regular patient-facing clinics.
  • Use independent prescribing qualification safely within local policy.

Are you an experienced practice nurse ready to make a bigger impact?, As Lead Nurse, you will become a key clinical resource for our practice nursing teams. Your role will include:

  • Providing senior clinical support and advice to practice nurses, including support with complex clinical situations.
  • Acting as a clinical escalation point and working collaboratively with GPs, Clinical Directors and the wider MDT.

  • Using your independent prescribing qualification safely and effectively within your professional competence, local formulary and SPC policies.
