Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading seeks a senior nutrition specialist to support home parenteral nutrition, IV fluids, and complex nutrition care.

You will coordinate with home care partners, manage the enteral nursing team, and contribute to MDT discussions and hospital nutrition governance activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead/participate inpatient PN ward rounds during Consultant absence.
• Support approximately 60 home patients on IV fluids and Home Parenteral Nutrition.
• Liaise with commercial home care companies for patient reviews and service meetings.
• Manage the enteral nursing team and support nutrition governance meetings.
• Support national data submissions and local nutrition initiatives.

Job description

• Supporting approximately 60 home patients on IV fluids and Home Parenteral Nutrition including prescriptions.
• Involves liaising with commercial home care companies (x 4) for home patient reviews and service review meetings.
• Managing the enteral nursing team.
• Supporting complex nutrition patient MDT's.
• Liaising with other HPN centres (RBH is one of 22 HPN centres).
• Managing IF Database and supporting national data submissions.
• Supporting other local hospitals e.g.RSCH, Basingstoke, Frimley, with HPN remote discharges.
• Daily inpatient PN ward rounds (leading the team during Consultant absence).
• Supporting general nutrition within the hospital e.g. Nutrition Steering Committee (NSC); dietitians and MUST scoring; fluid balance, etc.
