Job summary

Oxfordshire County Council is seeking a Lead Strategic Planner (NSIPs) to guide the council’s input to nationally significant infrastructure projects from Oxfordshire. The role involves coordinating specialists, leading examinations, and delivering clear planning advice across the county and wider region.

You will work in a strategic planning context with district councils, developers, government bodies and partners, ensuring robust evidence-led decisions and delivery of infrastructure growth.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in strategic, development or infrastructure planning.
• Strong understanding of planning legislation, policy frameworks and statutory consultation processes.
• Degree or equivalent substantial experience; membership or eligibility for membership of RTPI is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic and infrastructure planning input for NSIPs across Oxfordshire.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary technical inputs and coordinate consultations.
• Support examination processes and ensure clear council responses.
• Prepare planning performance agreements and briefings for senior leaders.
• Provide recommendations to senior decision-makers.
