York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Flow, Safety and Escalation Lead Midwife to join our maternity leadership team. This role provides visible clinical and operational leadership to support safe care, patient flow and timely escalation across maternity services.

The post holder will oversee staffing, capacity and risk, collaborating with ward managers and labour ward coordinators, contributing to governance, audit and service development.

Qualifications

• Registered midwife with substantial acute maternity experience.
• Experience as coordinator, shift leader, or midwife in charge.
• Strong clinical judgement and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible clinical and operational leadership to support safe care, patient flow and timely escalation across maternity services.
• Oversee staffing, capacity, acuity and escalation processes, coordinating with ward managers and labour ward coordinators.
• Contribute to governance, audit, quality improvement and service development as the post becomes embedded within the Trust.
