Job summary

Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to lead on-site mechanical works across major construction and engineering projects, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, and on time.

You will supervise technicians and subcontractors, review drawings and method statements, deliver toolbox talks, and drive a strong safety culture on site. The role requires BPSS clearance, a recognised mechanical qualification, and proven leadership in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• BPSS clearance is required.
• Qualification in a mechanical discipline (Pipefitting, Rigging, Welding or related).
• Previous Mechanical Supervisor experience in a regulated environment.
• Experience in highly regulated engineering or construction.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced project.
• Commitment to safe, on-time delivery and high quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation, maintenance and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Supervise mechanical technicians, tradespeople and subcontractors.
• Provide technical guidance to site teams.
• Monitor progress against schedules and address delays.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and quality checks.
• Review drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Deliver toolbox talks and maintain clear communication on site.
• Coordinate materials, equipment and site resources.
• Identify and resolve technical and logistical challenges.
• Produce reports and escalate significant issues with recommendations.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure health and safety compliance.
