Job summary

AFECO is recruiting a Mechanical Fitter Supervisor to lead a team responsible for installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of mechanical plant in water treatment facilities. You will drive safety, quality and reliability in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Role requires a recognised mechanical qualification and prior supervision experience within water or heavy industry. A proactive, safety-focused approach is essential, with strong communication across teams.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical engineering qualification.
• Experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Technician in water or heavy industry.
• Previous supervisory or team-leading experience.
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, hydraulics, and rotating machinery.
• PPM systems and maintenance planning understanding.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate, and oversee daily activities of fitters and contractors.
• Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure quality workmanship.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support where required.
• Conduct toolbox talks, coaching and competency assessments.
• Oversee maintenance of pumps, valves, gearboxes and related equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
