Job summary

Ayesa Engineering is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Water division in Leeds. You will lead mechanical design and delivery for water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure, coordinating with civil, electrical, and process teams to meet time and budget goals.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status (or in progress) and 5+ years in relevant projects, with strong MEICA knowledge and UK standards. Hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (IMechE) or working towards chartership.
• 5+ years' experience delivering mechanical designs for water, wastewater, or utilities projects.
• Understanding of MEICA systems and modular build construction processes.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design delivery within D&B or consultancy environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK design standards and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery for water, wastewater, sewage and utility infrastructure projects.
• Oversee design management, quality reviews, and integration with civil, electrical, and process disciplines.
• Prepare technical specifications, mechanical schedules, and tender documentation.
• Assist in appointment of specialist contractors and manage contracts to cost, time, quality & safety.
• Collaborate with design, project management, construction and supply chain teams.
• Ensure adherence to standards, regulations and codes of practice throughout lifecycle.
• Develop mechanical installation and procurement strategies and monitor progress weekly/monthly.
• Lead buildability, risk, opportunity and value engineering reviews.
• Develop new ways of working, reduce carbon, increase biodiversity, and embrace digital tech.
