Job summary

Sellick Partnership is seeking a Mechanical Lead in Manchester to take charge of on-site mechanical services, oversee planned and reactive maintenance, and ensure reliable operation of critical building systems.

You will lead the site engineering team, manage inspections and maintenance schedules, diagnose faults, and supervise contractors while upholding safety standards and compliance across the facility. The role offers stability, on-site work, and scope to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2+ in Mechanical Engineering Services or equivalent.
• 5–10 years’ experience as Mechanical Engineer in FM/Building Services.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, plant and equipment.
• Experience leading engineers or supervising contractors on-site.
• CPMPS certification.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
• Ability to obtain BPSS clearance.
• Desirable: IPAF and PASMA certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site engineering team and act as the mechanical engineering champion on site.
• Carry out and oversee Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services systems.
• Diagnose, fault-find and rectify complex mechanical faults and plant issues.
• Ensure building services systems operate efficiently and maintain optimum environmental conditions.
• Manage Legionella monitoring and control activities in line with compliance requirements.
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure all work is completed safely and to the required standard.
