About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer with a passion for design, collaboration, and continuous learning. Based at our UK headquarters in Milton Keynes, you will guide and support the mechanical design of customer projects, contributing to innovative material handling solutions and systems for industrial automation.

Main Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the mechanical design and functionality for customer projects, ensuring delivery aligns with project timelines and budgets
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through meetings, discussions, and the sharing of technical documentation and presentations
• Work collaboratively with controls engineers to ensure the required functionality and performance of each solution
• Provide the necessary engineering documentation to the project manager and manufacturing team, offering support throughout assembly and commissioning
• Develop a strong understanding of the FlexLink product portfolio to apply effectively in customer solutions
• Support and review early-phase mechanical designs to reduce potential technical challenges
• Partner with various teams and divisions across FlexLink to promote knowledge-sharing and solution development

What You Need To Be Successful

• A HND or degree-level qualification in mechanical engineering (or equivalent)
• At least 3 years of mechanical design experience within sectors such as material handling, conveyors, robotics, automation, packaging, or special purpose machinery
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English, both spoken and written
• Proficiency in CAD tools, such as AutoCAD and Inventor
• A good understanding of automation controls (pneumatic and electrical), and how they integrate with mechanical systems
• A customer-focused and solution-oriented mindset
