Job summary

Belcan, East Midlands, England, seeks a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of advanced rotating equipment and high‑temperature static structures. You will own design requirements, drive standards, and shape engineering processes for next‑generation machinery.

Qualifications

Experience leading design of turbomachinery and high-temperature structures.
Strong thermo‑mechanical design background with fatigue assessment.
First‑principles analytical approach and excellent communication.
Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter PLM software.

Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design activities for complex turbomachinery components.
Perform 1D calculations, 2D analysis, and 3D FEA (thermal, structural, modal, fatigue).
Review and approve design work from other engineers.
Define subsystem requirements and ensure robust mechanical architecture.
Improve tools, methods, and design processes.
Present updates to senior stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.
Ensure compliance with BS, ASME, API, ISO and related standards.
