Job summary

Sapien Engineering seeks Senior and Principal Mechanical Design Engineers to join our client’s engineering team in Huddersfield, working on mechanical design projects involving rotating machinery, gearboxes and power transmission systems within the Aerospace & Defence sector.

You will design components, perform calculations, produce CAD models and drawings, and support design reviews. For Principal level roles you will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and lead complex projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical design for rotating machinery or geared transmission systems.
• Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for rotating machinery and geared transmission systems.
• Carry out engineering calculations, component sizing and material selection.
• Produce 3D CAD models, 2D drawings and BOMs (Solid Edge preferred).
• Apply Design for Manufacture principles and support design reviews.
• Investigate non-conformances and perform root-cause analysis.
• Support engineering change control and produce technical documentation.
