Job summary

Ford & Stanley Group in Gloucestershire is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Manager to act as the technical authority for product design and development of bespoke safety-critical rail equipment. You will lead the design team through concept, development, manufacture, testing and final delivery.

The role demands Chartered Engineer status, extensive experience in heavy engineering, and a strong grasp of machinery directives, CE marking and UKCA compliance.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with registration with the IMechE is required.
• Extensive experience in mechanical design within heavy engineering sectors.
• Experience designing safety-critical fabricated products and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and delivery of safety-critical rail equipment.
• Act as technical authority for product design and development.
• Manage full product lifecycle from concept through manufacture and delivery.
• Collaborate with customers to translate engineering challenges into practical solutions.
