Job summary

Samuel Frank is recruiting a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for bespoke special purpose machinery in East Lancashire. You will own the complete machine design from initial concept through to installation, guiding a small team of design engineers along the way.

The role requires turning customer specifications into a fully integrated, manufacturable solution with CE/UKCA compliance. You will oversee sub-assemblies, reviews and cost targets while collaborating with manufacturing and project teams

Qualifications

• Experience turning a customer spec into a complete machine design.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a small design team.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods and cost considerations.
• Experience with risk assessment and CE/UKCA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own the whole machine from concept to commissioned product.
• Lead a team of up to four design engineers and allocate work.
• Review drawings, progress and decisions to keep schedule and cost on track.
• Work with manufacturing, controls, purchasing and project teams through build and commissioning.
• Perform engineering calculations and FE analyses and verify against brief.
