Job description

Job Description Summary

This position offers an opportunity to develop the next generation of propellers for highly efficient aeroengines. You will lead mechanical design across various projects, from new product introduction to manufacturing and service support. The role involves driving product innovation and improving design processes, with access to a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for short development cycles. You will also lead cost reduction and LEAN initiatives in collaboration with Procurement and Operations.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. Own key design work packages across multiple NPI programmes and Integrated Product Teams.
  2. Implement modifications and amendments to support in-service requests, production, and repair operations.
  3. Collaborate with project managers to estimate scope, time, and cost of work packages.
  4. Manage requirements and specifications.
  5. Identify opportunities to improve system and component attributes such as efficiency, noise, weight, stress, manufacturability, and cost.
  6. Create and release designs supported by analyses (DfM & DfA, cost, stress, dynamics).
  7. Manage risk assessments, including DFMEA and PFMEA.
  8. Support development and validation activities, including rig and flight testing.
  9. Engage with Operations to support plant objectives daily.
  10. Lead the continuous improvement of design processes and workflows (CAD, CAE, PLM), documenting best practices.
  11. Mentor and lead other staff and trainees.

Qualifications / Requirements

  1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
  2. Extensive experience in mechanical design, including large assembly integration and configuration management.
  3. Experience in design for manufacture and assembly.
  4. Signatory status for CAD and drawing releases (ASME Y14.5 GD&T).
  5. Signatory status for concessions and technical variances approval.
  6. Expertise in Catia, Creo, or NX.

Desired Skills

  1. Ability to lead Integrated Product Teams.
  2. Experience with design and CAE analysis of rotating machinery.
  3. Experience integrating electro-mechanical machines and actuators.
  4. Knowledge of PTC Windchill.
