Job summary

Beazley Management Limited seeks an experienced Underwriter to focus on Marine Subsea, underwriting a profitable subsea portfolio and advising on risk matters. You will structure bespoke solutions, monitor profitability, and maintain strong relationships with brokers, external clients, and the claims team.

The role requires deep marine insurance expertise, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work across Beazley’s policy framework while upholding core underwriting standards and service

Qualifications

• Proven extensive background in marine insurance, with subsea experience.
• Thorough knowledge of underwriting policy, philosophy and practice.
• Advanced knowledge of underwriting processes and systems.
• Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office, advanced Excel.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise.

Responsibilities

• Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of business focusing on marine subsea accounts.
• Structure tailor-made solutions using underwriting policy and team parameters to win new business and retain existing.
• Monitor premiums, costs and claims ratios per contract and take corrective measures for profitability.
• Evaluate risk premium considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure and administration costs.
• Monitor peer underwriters to ensure profitability and efficient administration.
• Supervise assistants to ensure compliance with underwriting philosophy and Beazley standards.
• Comply with Beazley underwriting control standards for Lloyd's and MGAs.
• Develop working relationships with claims managers for this class of business.
• Advise and service clients on insurance and risk matters to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain relationships with brokers and awareness of Beazley product range.
• Produce presentations and marketing literature as needed.
• Produce business plans/research documents for Beazley Subsea account.
