Job summary

Natural England in Newcastle-upon-Tyne is seeking an Operational Higher Officer to deliver statutory and discretionary advice on major NSIPs with marine and terrestrial elements.

You will work with the Northumbria Area Team and Northern North Seas Team, review EIAs and Habitats Regulations Assessments, advise developers to address environmental impacts, support Marine Protected Area conservation, and contribute to condition assessments.

Qualifications

• Degree in marine biology or related field with relevant experience.
• Detailed knowledge of marine ecosystems and UK North Sea waters.
• Experience in providing statutory or advisory support to public authorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver advice on major NSIPs with marine components.
• Review EIAs and Habitats Regulations Assessments and advise developers on environmental impacts.
• Provide statutory advice within specified timeframes.
• Support cross-team collaboration between terrestrial and marine colleagues.
• Contribute to conservation advice for Marine Protected Areas.
