About the role

Join NFU Mutual as the Lead Liability Surveyor and play a crucial role in enhancing our approach to liability risk management. You’ll provide expert technical insight and thought leadership across Employers’ Liability, Public Liability, Products Liability, and Environmental Impairment Liability, supporting our expanding portfolio across diverse commercial sectors beyond farming.

This is a new role where you’ll research, develop, and implement risk management strategies, procedures, and standards for liability surveying. Your expertise will help shape a sustainable and profitable liability risk appetite. You’ll also transfer knowledge and skills to the Loss Control Surveyors, Underwriting, and Agency colleagues.

You’ll conduct detailed liability surveys on complex risks, providing risk management advice to mitigate losses. Collaboration is essential, as you’ll build relationships with senior management within clients’ businesses and internal teams, including Underwriting, Claims, Agents, and other NFU Mutual colleagues.

The role is home-based with significant UK-wide travel for surveys, client visits, team meetings, and external events. You can plan your travel and work schedules flexibly.

About you

You’re an experienced risk management professional with deep knowledge of liability covers, including Employers’ Liability, Public Liability, and Product Liability. You have a proven track record in loss prevention and risk management strategies across multiple sectors.

Additionally, you’ll have:

  • An open-minded approach with experience coaching and training colleagues on liability risks and loss prevention.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide detailed technical advice.
  • In-depth understanding of UK health and safety legislation, guidance, and international standards.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A full, valid UK Driving Licence is essential.
