Job summary

YMCA Derbyshire’s Key College is seeking a Senior Learner Support Assistant for term-time support across sites. You’ll mentor colleagues, tailor support plans and ensure learners with SEND/EHCPs receive personalised encouragement and progress tracking.

Join a team dedicated to inclusive education, safeguarding, and improving learner outcomes, with strong links to families and external partners. DBS checks and safeguarding are standard requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people in educational or support settings.
• Ability to guide and mentor colleagues to deliver effective learner support.
• Strong understanding of inclusive practice, safeguarding and positive behaviour support.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted support to learners with additional needs to help overcome barriers and achieve potential.
• Support tutors to deliver inclusive and engaging learning with appropriate strategies and reasonable adjustments.
• Monitor learner progress, including EHCP outcomes, and contribute to support plans, reviews and quality assurance.
• Mentor and support Learning Support Assistants, coordinating professional development and sharing best practices.
• Help develop and coordinate tutorial programmes, enrichment activities and wellbeing initiatives.
• Collaborate with learners, families, colleagues and external partners to promote inclusion and positive progression.
