Job summary

YMCA East Surrey is seeking a caring and motivated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our CYP - Disability Services team in Reigate. This part-time, permanent role supports learners with disabilities in our Alternative Education provision, delivering a person-centred timetable and safeguarding.

You will have training in positive behaviour management, safeguarding, epilepsy, food hygiene and Working Together to Safeguard Children, with initial and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Relevant training in positive behaviour management.
• Positive touch and epilepsy training or willingness to complete.
• Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults awareness.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the safe delivery of YMCA East Surrey Alternative Provision service.
• Work with Learning Support Assistants and volunteers to provide high-quality support.
• Ensure Health and Safety and adherence to safeguarding policies.
• Support learners to meet learning outcomes via Life skills, training, community and wellbeing activities.
• Record and evidence learning actions for Asdan module work.
• Supervise activity environments to ensure safety for all children and young people.
• Provide hygienic refreshments, considering balanced diet and diverse backgrounds.
• Provide personal care with privacy and dignity, recording in care plans.
• Administer medication after training and keep records.
• Assist with moving and handling for those with limited mobility.
• Offer high-level support for learners with complex needs and follow care/behaviour plans.
• Use aids to support communication and sensory impairment needs.
• Provide diligence and supervision for learners with complex needs.
• Accompany learners on trips with risk assessments and safety focus.
