Job summary

Oldham College is seeking a committed Quality Assurance professional to support the effective delivery of College services and priorities. Interviews for this role will take place on 28 September.

The role leads IQA across Travel & Tourism programmes, ensures assessment integrity, manages EQA visits, monitors practice, and drives quality improvement in line with college policies. You will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and contribute to self-assessment and college-wide quality forums.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidate holds an FE IQA background with exposure to EQA prep.
• Experience with awarding organisations, sampling and observations.
• Understanding of assessment planning, feedback and verification processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide IQA/compliance reports and represent Travel & Tourism in quality forums.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:

• Lead Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) across all Travel & Tourism programmes, developing annual IQA plans, sampling strategies and quality assurance schedules.
• Ensure assessment integrity — making sure all assessment decisions are fair, valid, reliable and consistent across assessors, and compliant with awarding body and college requirements.
• Manage external quality assurance (EQA) — preparing for EQA visits and acting as the main point of contact for awarding organisations.
• Monitor and sample assessment practice, reviewing learner work and assessor feedback, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Lead standardisation and staff development — running standardisation meetings, mentoring assessors, and supporting new assessor induction.
• Drive quality improvement — contributing to self-assessment reports, acting on EQA/audit findings, and supporting learner achievement and retention targets.
• Report and collaborate — providing regular IQA/compliance reports and representing Travel & Tourism in college-wide quality forums.
• Carry out duties in line with College policies and procedures, including safeguarding and equality commitments

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• FE assessment/IQA experience — track record in assessment and internal quality assurance within Further Education, including EQA prep.
• Vocational qualification expertise — experience with awarding organisation requirements, sampling, observations and standardisation.
• Relevant qualifications — Assessor award (e.g. TAQA/A1) and IQA award (e.g. Level 4), plus GCSE Maths/English (grade C+) and a Level 3 subject qualification.
• Quality assurance knowledge — understanding of assessment planning, feedback, verification processes and awarding body regulations.
• Interpersonal and collaborative skills — able to communicate effectively, mentor assessors, and drive consistent quality standards.
