My client a distinguished and forward-thinking architectural practice, recognised for delivering exceptional and complex projects both nationally and internationally is seeking a highly talented and experienced Lead Interior Architect to join a dedicated team in their London Office.

This senior role will focus on shaping the interior architecture of large-scale cultural buildings, including museums and performance spaces, offering a unique opportunity to lead the design narrative for significant and inspiring environments.

The successful candidate will be a creative and technically astute Lead Interior Architect with a compelling portfolio that showcases their ability to conceive and realise outstanding interior spaces within complex cultural contexts. They will possess a profound understanding of how interior design integrates with base-build architecture to create holistic and immersive user experiences. This role demands a passion for materiality, detailing, and the seamless execution of ambitious design concepts.

A critical aspect of this position involves leading the interior design process through all RIBA Stages (1-5). The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive experience in developing interior design concepts, producing detailed design documentation, and creating robust construction documentation and specifications. They will be adept at managing the interior design scope, coordinating with architectural and engineering teams, and ensuring the integrity of the design intent through to project completion.

Candidates must possess advanced skills in Rhino and Revit, utilising these tools to an exemplary standard in the development, visualisation, and documentation of interior architectural designs.

Preference will be given to candidates who have a track record of working within highly respected, design-led architectural or interior design offices, contributing to a portfolio of notable projects. Previous experience working on projects located in Middel East and Asia would be a significant advantage.

Applicants must possess the right to work in the UK.

This is a full-time position with an immediate start date available. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, commensurate with experience and skills. This role offers significant opportunities for design leadership and career advancement, allowing the candidate to make a substantial impact on high-profile cultural projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the interior architectural design for large-scale cultural projects, including museums and performance spaces, from concept (RIBA Stage 1) through to completion (RIBA Stage 5).
  • Developing and articulating strong conceptual interior design narratives that align with the overall architectural vision and client brief.
  • Producing high-quality design presentations, mood boards, material palettes, and detailed interior drawings.
  • Overseeing the production of comprehensive interior construction documentation, schedules, and specifications.
  • Managing and coordinating the interior design scope with the base-build architectural team, specialist consultants, and suppliers.
  • Ensuring design quality, innovation, and adherence to project timelines and budgets for all interior aspects.
  • Utilising Rhino and Revit to a high level of proficiency for interior design, modelling, visualisation, and documentation.
  • Providing design leadership for the interior architecture team, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a collaborative studio environment.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful realisation of the interior design.
  • Staying abreast of current trends, materials, and innovations in interior architecture and cultural design.

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Interior Architect or Architect with extensive proven experience in a Lead Interior Architect or Senior Interior Designer role.
  • Demonstrable experience in the interior design and delivery of large-scale, complex cultural projects, specifically museums and/or performance venues.
  • Exceptional design and conceptual skills with a sophisticated understanding of spatial planning, materiality, lighting, FF&E, and detailing for cultural environments.
  • Comprehensive experience across all RIBA Stages (1-5), with strong capabilities in producing detailed design packages, construction documentation, and specifications for interiors.
  • Advanced proficiency in Rhino and Revit is essential.
  • Experience working in renowned, design-focused architectural or interior design practices is highly desirable.
  • Experience with projects in the KSA region is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment and to lead and inspire an interiors team.
  • A proactive, innovative, and detail-oriented approach to interior design.
  • Right to work in the UK.
