Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the UK is seeking a Principal ICA Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering electrical and ICA design on complex water sector projects. You will coordinate technical work, drive quality and timetables, and contribute to bid proposals.

Based in Leeds, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester or Newcastle, you’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with clients and internal teams, and ensure adherence to QA standards while advancing innovative solutions for critical

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
• Experience coordinating ICA design delivery in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Knowledge of ICA designs and water company codes (e.g. WIMES).
• Awareness of HAZOP, earthing/bonding, lighting, DSEAR and ATEX.
• Proficiency with electrical design software such as Trimble/Amtech.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Experience in the water market is preferred; industrial/process environments essential.
• Strong communication across multidisciplinary teams.
• Proactive, collaborative mindset to drive teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate or manage a team of Electrical & ICA engineers for design delivery on complex projects.
• Manage time and budgets to key project milestones.
• Lead and produce deliverables such as SLDs, block diagrams, load schedules, MCC specs, control philosophies.
• Provide input into ICA design deliverables and liaise with project management.
• Collaborate with client, operations, and other AtkinsRéalis teams.
• Mentor less experienced colleagues and grow ICA capabilities.
• Work independently with minimal technical guidance and solve complex problems.
• Provide technical support for bid proposals.
• Work with UK and overseas teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to QA standards and check own and others' work.
• Contribute to business development in the water market.
