Job summary

Omexom Design in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Design Engineer specialising in underground HV/EHV cable systems. You will provide technical leadership, define design strategies, and ensure compliant, safe, and cost-effective solutions across major infrastructure projects.

You will oversee design packages from concept through feasibility to detailed design, mentor junior engineers, and promote innovative practices within a collaborative, ambitious team committed to industry-leading standards.

Qualifications

A degree in Electrical Engineering; MSc/MEng is advantageous.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working toward chartership.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in HV/EHV underground cable system design (132kV+).
Strong knowledge of cable selection, route design, installation techniques, and performance.
Proficiency with CYMCAP, ELEK and AutoCAD; MATLAB is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Act as the technical lead across HV/EHV cable system design activities.
Oversee complex cable design packages (33kV and above) from concept to detailed design.
Develop and maintain internal design standards, templates and tools.
Lead design reviews, quality checks and audits.
Mentor junior engineers and promote innovation within the discipline.
