Job summary

UK Fusion Energy (UKFE) Ltd. leads the STEP HTS magnet technology development programme for the STEP prototype fusion plant. You will deliver crucial test coils, cables and magnet materials on a pacey timescale, coordinating across disciplines to meet STEP model coil milestones.

You will drive technology plans, lead a multidisciplinary team, and communicate results clearly to partners and stakeholders, while collaborating internationally to extend HTS capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Chartered status with a professional institution
  • Proven track record in technology delivery
  • Strong HTS magnet design and multi-physics knowledge
  • Experience with experimental design and lab equipment
  • Commercial awareness and budget management
  • Leadership of diverse, multidisciplinary teams
  • Clear communication in technical and non-technical terms

Responsibilities

  • Lead the STEP HTS magnet technology development programme
  • Deliver the small test coil, short cable and magnet materials programmes
  • Produce technology development plans and manage a multi-disciplinary team
  • Interface between design teams and model coil development, reporting progress
  • Communicate complex findings to diverse audiences and partners
