Job summary

Compass Community is opening a brand new school in Newton-le-Willows and seeks a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the inaugural staff team. You will support teachers in the classroom, work 1:1 or with small groups, manage resources and help deliver parts of the curriculum for pupils with SEMH and SEND needs.

The role requires a HLTA qualification or higher and a commitment to a trauma-informed approach, with extensive training and support provided.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or higher is required and essential to demonstrate ability to deliver key curriculum aspects for pupils with SEN.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in the classroom and with sessions for individuals or small groups.
• Manage classroom resources and assist with trips and visits.
• Lead or contribute to curriculum delivery in designated areas.
• Support pupils with SEMH and SEND needs with patience and resilience.
• Participate in therapy sessions and contribute to a trauma-informed approach.
