Job summary

Goosewell Primary Academy in Plymouth is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. The role is a fixed-term contract until January 2028, part-time at 31.25 hours per week, term-time only (39 weeks per year).

The HLTA will lead learning, support pupil progress, and work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to help every child reach their potential.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or willingness to work towards it.
• GCSE English and Maths.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant with understanding of child development.
• Ability to deliver learning activities and support curriculum objectives in primary.
• Organised, proactive and safeguarding aware.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging learning activities for individuals or groups.
• Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
• Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
• Provide high-quality classroom cover during PPA time.
• Support children with SEND and EAL needs.
• Lead and support a team of TAs, including training.
• Contribute to school life, meetings, events and supervision.
