Job summary

Kent County Council is recruiting a Higher Learning Teaching Assistant to support the ESOL programme for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking (UAS) children in Kent. The role focuses on planning and delivering tutoring to individuals and groups at Reception Centres or Children’s Homes, promoting attendance, attainment and progress for these vulnerable youths.

Qualifications

• Motivated to support learning for a vulnerable group of children and young people.
• Experience delivering robust learning plans aligned to the agreed education programme.
• Understanding of safety and wellbeing of UAS children.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver tutoring sessions to individuals and groups of UAS children at Reception Centres or Children's Homes in Kent.
• Promote educational engagement, attainment and progress of these young people in care awaiting transfer under NTS.
• Work in Oak Manor, Cranbrook, with UAS children as part of the ESOL programme.
• Maintain a customer-facing role with clear communication and professional conduct.
