Job summary

Sweco UK is recruiting a Principal Engineer for our highways team in Manchester. You will lead a highways design team, manage major schemes, and act as Technical Authority across multi-disciplinary projects. The role offers hybrid working with at least three days in the office.

You will guide delivery, mentor junior staff, and work with clients to ensure technically excellent, sustainable solutions across road, drainage, and pavement disciplines.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or a related field.
• CEng / IEng or working towards.
• Experience leading highways design teams.
• Experience with DMRB and Cycle Infrastructure Design.
• Proficient in Civils 3D or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead highways design teams and ensure quality and safety.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across projects.
• Prepare and review technical reports and design documentation.
