St Leonards School in St Andrews is seeking a dedicated Grounds Supervisor to oversee grounds, gardens and sports pitches, ensuring high standards of appearance and safety. You will manage an outsourced contractor and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations while working with limited supervision.

The role requires holding PVG Scheme Membership, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. A strong horticultural background and supervisory experience in a school or sports setting

Qualifications

• Essential: HNC in Horticulture and spraying certificates.
• Experience in maintenance and landscape gardening, including sports pitches.
• Supervisory experience leading horticulture works and turf knowledge.
• Desirable: school or sports environment experience.
• Sound plant identification knowledge and mechanical aptitude.

Responsabilités

• Provide professional gardening and Estates services in a large school setting, including cultivation, edging, planting and general upkeep of gardens, pitches and grounds.
• Maintain all-weather sports pitches.
• Gritting, salt spreading and snow clearing during cold weather.
• Plan duties for Grounds contractor, monitor weather and events, liaise with stakeholders.
• Oversee Grounds Maintenance contract, manage SLAs and ensure value for money.
• Ensure safe use, storage and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
• Maintain compliance with Health & Safety procedures and security guidelines.
• Assess stock levels and order materials within delegated limits.
• Lift and move furniture and equipment as required.
• Annual repainting of benches and conduct general condition checks.
• Provide general support to the Estates team as needed.
