Job summary

WWT Slimbridge is seeking an experienced Grounds Manager to lead the grounds team and help deliver our mission to restore wetlands and support wildlife.

This full-time role combines practical leadership with strategic planning, budgeting, and contractor management, ensuring outstanding standards across visitor areas and habitats.

You will work within the Centre Management Team, including Duty Manager responsibilities, and contribute to long-term landscape development.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a grounds team including staff, volunteers and contractors.
• Experience with plant and machinery operation.
• Proactive, solution-focused approach and passion for landscapes.
• Full driving licence required.
• Experience in a visitor-focused site is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop grounds team including staff, volunteers and contractors.
• Plan and deliver annual grounds maintenance programmes.
• Enhance landscapes and habitats aligned with conservation and visitor goals.
• Ensure outstanding standards across grounds, infrastructure and visitor areas.
• Manage budgets, resources and contractors effectively and sustainably.
• Participate in Centre Management Team with Duty Manager responsibilities.
