Job summary

WWT Slimbridge is seeking an experienced Grounds Manager to lead our grounds team and help deliver a mission to restore wetlands and inspire visitors. You will combine practical leadership with strategic planning, manage budgets and contractor performance, and work as part of the Centre Management Team to maintain high standards across grounds and visitor spaces.

This full-time role requires 37.5 hours over 5 days in 7, with weekend or bank holiday duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience at management level in grounds or estate settings.
• Experience using plant and machinery.
• Proactive, solutions-focused and resourceful approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a grounds team including staff, volunteers and contractors.
• Plan and deliver annual grounds maintenance programmes and improvement projects.
• Enhance landscapes and habitats to support conservation and visitor experience goals.
• Ensure outstanding standards across grounds, infrastructure and visitor areas.
• Manage budgets, resources and contractors effectively and sustainably.
• Participate in the Centre Management Team, including Duty Manager responsibilities.
