Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Manager to lead landscaping maintenance and aftercare operations across the South East, coordinating labour, resources and client reporting to maintain high standards.

The role requires hands-on management, planning programmes, site inspections and clear communication with clients, with responsibility for safety, quality and timely delivery on site visits across Essex and the South East.

Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance or soft landscaping.
• Good plant knowledge and understanding of maintenance standards.
• Experience managing teams or subcontractors.
• Strong planning and organisation skills.
• Good communication skills with clients and site teams.
• Good commercial awareness.
• Ability to identify problems early and follow them through.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office / Excel.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage and regularly review annual landscaping maintenance and aftercare programmes.
• Prepare site-by-site schedules covering routine visits, watering and seasonal tasks.
• Coordinate labour, subcontractors, vehicles, plant, tools and access requirements.
• Brief site teams before work begins, ensuring understanding of specification and standards.
• Visit sites to inspect workmanship, progress and compliance with specifications.
• Manage watering, establishment and aftercare for planted areas.
• Identify and address defects, remedial works and replacements.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to operatives and subcontractors.
• Ensure works are planned and delivered safely and to client requirements.
• Prepare and issue visit reports, photos and inspection records to clients.
