Job summary

Manpower is seeking an experienced Working Supervisor (Grounds Maintenance) to oversee a small team delivering cemetery and grounds services around Salisbury. The role requires leadership, a strong grounds knowledge, and solid communication with site representatives and clients.

The position is based in Salisbury with an hourly rate of £13.80–£14.35, a permanent full-time contract, and standard hours of 37 per week. COTS qualification and full UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in grounds maintenance/landscaping.
• Experience with grave digging and burial/interment is desirable.
• Proficiency in client management and IT literacy.
• IOSH or additional health & safety certificates beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and organise the grounds maintenance team; allocate daily tasks and monitor quality.
• Perform grounds tasks: grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, leaf clearance, seasonal maintenance.
• Operate a mini digger safely for grave excavation and other works.
• Support burial and interment services with professionalism and respect.
• Maintain accurate daily records of work, machine checks, incidents and materials.
• Provide guidance to team members and monitor attendance and performance.
• Liaise with clients, cemetery staff, funeral directors and the public.
• Follow risk assessments and health & safety procedures.
