Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland seeks a Lead GIS Consultant to lead multi-disciplinary geospatial projects across Water, Energy, Earth and Environment. You will guide the GIS team, deliver complex solutions, and drive digital transformation to unlock efficiencies and informed decision-making.

You will mentor staff, shape project governance, and contribute to bids and proposals while promoting growth and continuous learning within the geospatial community.

Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of GIS principles and geospatial data management.
• Proven experience designing and deploying Esri Enterprise solutions (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online).
• Experience building workflows with Esri tools and automation (Experience Builder, Dashboards, 3D scenes, Survey123, Field Maps).
• Proficiency in building and automating workflows with FME and publishing to FME Flow.
• Experience integrating Microsoft PowerApps and other MS tools into geospatial services.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language for geospatial apps (Python, JavaScript, SQL).
• Familiarity with Esri APIs and Azure cloud-based geospatial solutions.
• Experience developing GIS inputs for bids and proposals, including cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership of the GIS team, setting direction, managing performance, and ensuring capability and capacity align with project and business needs.
• Lead the GIS element on major projects in a multi-disciplinary environment, with a focus on Development Consent Orders (DCO) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
• Drive digital transformation through innovative, client-focused geospatial solutions across Water, Energy, Earth, and Environment.
• Manage programmes and resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered to established standards, scope, and budget.
• Understand client needs to provide technical advice and solutions, including preparing proposals and bids to support business development.
• Mentor and develop a technical team focused on quality and service delivery.
• Develop and document efficient working practices to deliver best-value services to clients.
• Drive innovation and provide technical leadership in delivering high-quality geospatial solutions.
• Occasionally travel to other offices for business development and project meetings.
